Bronek Kozka

The practice of Australian artist Bronek Kozka is rooted in profound explorations of the environment and its complex interconnections. With a resolute focus on contemporary environmental challenges, his work constructs compelling visual narratives that emphasise the need to reestablish deep connections between humanity and the natural world.

Kozka transforms smart devices into tools for communion rather than mere recording instruments. By layering instantaneous exposures, he weaves dynamic narratives that resonate with the natural world’s movement. His scanning process synthesizes the essence of traditional Chinese landscape philosophy and contemporary digital aesthetics, becoming a form of embodied research. Through his lens, we are invited to transcend the confines of screens and immerse ourselves in nature’s imperfect beauty of nature.

Beyond artistic creation, Bronek Kozka serves as a lecturer in Photography at RMIT University (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) in Melbourne. His sustained commitment to arts education underscores his dedication to fostering dialogue and change while affirming his passion for nurturing the next generation of artists – empowering them to carry forward the mission of disseminating environmental awareness.

Currently, Bronek Kozka is undertaking the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Residency in Shanghai. On the 14th of this month, the NNM Study Centre will host an exclusive sharing session with the artist, where Kozka will introduce his photographic philosophy and practical methodology.
